Mykelti Brown is speaking out after receiving what she described as an overwhelming amount of criticism over a recent parenting decision.
The Sister Wives star, 29, took to Instagram to address backlash she received from fans who took issue with her allowing her children to use iPads during a family road trip.
According to Mykelti — whose parents are Christine Brown Woolley and Kody Brown — the criticism quickly escalated into direct messages.
“I hate when I get judged for how I raise my kids. I got some serious hate comments recently. I actually got hate DMs — massive amounts of them, a lot,” the TV personality, who shares three children with husband Tony Padron, explained. “And that’s because I gave my kids iPads.”
Mykelti went on to provide context for the situation, noting that her family of five was facing a four-hour drive to visit her sister. She said she made sure everyone — adults included — had something to stay occupied.
“I had my Kindle, I had my phone, I was scrolling. Tony had his podcast, he was listening. We were entertained,” she continued.
“I gave my kids iPads so that they could be entertained as well. They could enjoy the drive. It’s four hours. They’re fine. But I got a lot of comments even though I feel like as adults that’s exactly what we do,” Mykelti added. “We get on our phones when we drive. I’m a straight-up passenger princess.”
“I don’t like that we get judged so hard as a mom for trying to entertain my kids,” Mykelti concluded.
Despite the criticism, the TLC star was met with an outpouring of support in the comments section.
“You don’t owe anyone an explanation. We are all out here surviving and doing the best we can ❤️,” one user wrote.
“Your kids, your business!!❤️ it’s easy to judge from behind a screen,” another person commented.
“You don’t owe anyone an explanation, love. They’re your babies, you’re their mama…you do what works best for your family, period,” a third fan added.
During an October 2025 episode of Sister Wives, Christine revealed Mykelti moved her family across the country to Charlotte, North Carolina. The move came amid dad Kody’s tension with the rest of the Brown family.
