Is Cameron Mathison Leaving General Hospital As Drew- The shocking truth.

Rumors that Cameron Mathison is leaving General Hospital have been spreading like wildfire after a Google search result to a query about his status with the show produced an AI-generated claim — subsequently posted on social media — that the actor was indeed saying good-bye to Port Charles.

However, the truth is that Mathison is not leaving GH, despite the recent downturn in his health, courtesy of his syringe-wielding wife, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen).

Who Can You Trust?

When you enter a search query into Google, the first result that appears at the top of the page is often a Google AI summary.

And a screenshot of one of those summaries posted by a GH fan to Twitter/X would seem to confirm that Mathison is leaving the soap. But the AI result featured misinformation from various sources to reach its incorrect conclusion.

First, it says that “Drew Cain recently departed Port Charles after a dramatic storyline involving a prison sentence and emotional farewell scenes.”

Drew was sent to prison for insider trading back in the summer of 2023, and as viewers are well aware, there have been no emotional farewell scenes because the character is still very much on the canvas and involved in a major front-burner storyline after Willow, who was recently revealed to be responsible for his September 2025 shooting, drugged him, causing him to have a stroke.

The AI summary goes on to reference “his final scenes airing in January 2026,” and “marking an end to his three-year run on the popular soap opera.”

Not only have his final scenes not aired, but GH fans know Mathison joined the soap back in August 2021, so he’s actually been on for over four years, not three.

Our own query to Google asking if Mathison was leaving GH gave a similar “confirmation” of the actor’s exit, but with slightly different misinformation.

Our search result claimed that he had already left the soap and was continuing to host the game show Beat the Bridge, which has not yet been reported to be returning for a third season. This result also claimed the actor had been playing Drew for three years.

Mathison does take occasional breaks from filming GH for other projects, such as Beat the Bridge or his movies for Great American Family.

Currently, the actor is on a media tour promoting GAF’s 2026 slate of programming. But setside sources at the show have confirmed to Digest that Mathison is not slated to exit in the immediate future.

When searching for information online, it’s always best to rely on the links that Google provides, and particularly those that direct fans to reputable news sources, such as Soap Opera Digest.

The AI summaries do not reveal where they are pulling their information from, so you have no way of knowing whether or not it’s from a reliable source.

And as you can see from the AI summaries about Mathison leaving GH, they can often be quite misleading.
