Shocking Evidence: Joseph Duggar has reportedly pleaded not guilty to allegations of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl and has posted $600,000 bail.

Joseph Duggar, a onetime reality television fixture, has reportedly pleaded not guilty to child molestation charges and requested a jury trial.

Duggar, the seventh-eldest in a family whose life formed the backbone of the TLC show “19 Kids and Counting,” entered the written plea on March 29, Us Weekly and People report.

The 31-year-old ex-television star was held at the Bay County Jail in Florida, according to records viewed by USA TODAY, and his bond was set at $600,000. He was no longer listed as an inmate as of Tuesday afternoon, March 31.

On March 17, Duggar was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior after being accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Days later, police in Arkansas also separately arrested Duggar’s wife, Kendra Duggar, 27, on child endangerment charges. Both Joseph and Kendra Duggar have been charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of false imprisonment in Arkansas, the Tontitown Police Department announced March 20. The pair have been married since 2017 and share three children.

The Duggar family’s ultra-conservative Christian lifestyle in rural Arkansas was the subject of the hit TLC series, which ran for seven years. It was canceled in 2015 after news broke that the oldest sibling, Josh Duggar, had molested four of his sisters and a babysitter when he was a teen.

Josh Duggar is currently serving a more than 12-year prison sentence for downloading and possessing child pornography in a separate case.

Duggar family speaks out on Joseph, Kendra arrest

A spokesperson for Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Joseph’s parents, addressed his arrest in a statement on March 31.

“Jim Bob and Michelle are heartbroken over this entire situation,” the statement said. “Right now, they are focused on loving their family and helping Kendra and her children during this difficult time. They are praying for the victim. They ask for privacy and appreciate the kind words and prayers offered by so many.”
