Fans Shocked: Eden McCoy Reveals the Next Exciting and Dramatic Developments for Josslyn and Carly.
The bomb that General Hospital fans had been waiting to go off for months finally exploded last week when Carly (Laura Wright) confronted Josslyn about being in the WSB, and Joss learned that her mother already knew about her dangerous new job and was actively plotting to get her out of the government agency by working with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart).
Josslyn’s portrayer, Eden McCoy, opened up in a new interview with ABC11 about that dramatic episode and where things between the mother and daughter go from here.
Torn Apart
Asked about her experience taping those dramatic scenes with on-screen mother Laura Wright, McCoy said, “It was such a blur, honestly. It was so devastating and emotional and easy and hard and just all of the things.”
The actress praised the writers for giving her and Wright such strong dialogue and called it “heartbreaking” to see how Carly and Josslyn’s relationship has been completely transformed by Joss joining the WSB and being unable to break cover and mention anything about it to her mother.
While Joss had been lying to her mom about her rookie spy status for over a year, “It doesn’t mean that she doesn’t love her mom and want to be the little girl who tells her everything.” McCoy noted. “But she can’t.” And now that the truth is out, “Her devastation is really getting behind the fact that it’s not the same relationship. It can’t be the same relationship. It doesn’t matter if she wants it to be.
And then the heartbreak for the character of Carly is, ‘My daughter is capable of doing something like this. She’s capable of keeping this from me.
She’s capable of making her own choices, and I don’t have to like them.’ And there’s nothing wrong with that, to be honest.”
Family Feud
The question of where Josslyn and Carly go from here is a big one — and one that does not have an easy answer. McCoy had yet to tape much of the fallout from the mom/daughter dust-up, so she wasn’t sure where the storyline was going.
“And that’s a really nice place to be, to be honest,” the Daytime Emmy winner mused. “Not only do I, Eden, literally not know where it’s going to go — because I don’t, as of now — but this isn’t something that can be pushed under the rug and forgotten about and glazed over and we pretend it didn’t happen.”
There’s also the added factor of Valentin, whom Carly has developed feelings for while she was hiding the fugitive in her home.
“In terms of Valentin, Josslyn’s not a fan,” the GH star chuckled before adding, “I love the dynamic with Josslyn and Valentin because Valentin has a WSB history and there’s that sort of ‘game recognizes game’ quality about them that I hope we get to see more of.”

But for Josslyn and Carly, the road to repairing this fractured mother/daughter relationship is going to be long and difficult.
“They love each other more than anything,” McCoy proclaimed, “and that’s always gonna be there, and I think that will always help them navigate what to do next. But the tea is, no one’s been in this position, and you don’t know until you’re in it what’s gonna happen.”
