Fans of General Hospital are used to seeing new faces take over familiar roles on a temporary basis when issues like scheduling conflicts or illness make a regular cast member unavailable.
Last year alone, Guy Wilson stepped in for Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer, while Nicole Paggi briefly filled in for Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones. Next week, another character will briefly be played by a pinch-hitter.
The Show Must Go On
In January, a powerful winter storm swept across several regions of the country, leaving ice, sleet and record-breaking snow accumulation in major travel hubs like New York City.
As a result, airlines canceled well over 20,000 flights between January 23 and January 26, creating major headaches for passengers.
East Coast-based actor Daniel Cosgrove, who plays Ezra Boyle on GH, was among those affected, and he found himself unable to fly to Los Angeles, where the soap shoots. So, the show tapped Patrick Scott Lewis to sub in for him.
Lewis’s first episode as Ezra will air on Monday, March 2, with his second episode slated to air a few weeks later, on Monday, March 16. This will not mark the actor’s GH debut, however; in December 2024, he appeared in one episode in the role of Mr. Thomas, who interrupted a conversation between Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and Trina (Tabyana Ali) to snap a photo of his son with local college football celeb Kai.
His other TV credits include guest-star appearances on Cold Case, CSI: Miami and Castle, and he portrayed Victor Travis in the Netflix series Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
In the current storyline, Ezra has been busy serving as the liaison between Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and her blackmailer, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota).
While his relationship with Laura has been scratchy from the start, and Ezra ran against her (and lost) in last year’s mayoral election, he displayed a rare moment of vulnerability with her in the February 26th episode, bemoaning that he hadn’t known how dangerous Sidwell was until he was in too deep with the debonair criminal.
