General Hospital fans were on the edge of their seats when spoilers for the week of January 26–30 dropped. One teaser hinted that a duo would share a first kiss, and immediately, fans speculated it would be Nathan and Lulu. That made sense. After all, the two have been in each other’s orbit a lot lately.
But no one could have predicted there would be two first kisses in one episode. Lo and behold, that’s exactly what happened. On the January 29 installment of the ABC daytime drama, both Lulu and Nathan, and Danny and Charlotte shared a kiss in the last segment of the show.
Mixed Reactions from the Fanbase
Danny and Charlotte’s kiss sparked a flood of reactions online. Some fans acknowledged the chemistry. Others didn’t hold back, criticizing the writers. Why? Because Danny and Charlotte are related.
According to the show’s history, Danny and Charlotte are cousins through the Cassadine bloodline. Charlotte is the granddaughter of Victor Cassadine, while Danny is the grandson of Alexis, the daughter of Mikkos Cassadine. Simply put, they may not share the same last name, but they do share blood, unless the show plans to change history.
General Hospital Fans Take to X to Voice Their Thoughts
After the episode, fans shared their reactions on X. And let’s just say, they did not hold back one bit. Melissa wrote, “Wait?!?! Aren’t Danny and Charlotte related???” Sandra added, “NOOO, please stop with the kissin’ cousins!”
Janet commented, “I hope it ends soon and I hope the writers remember their history that Danny and Charlotte are related. Not here for either pairing.”
Raquel added, “Hmmmm. I thought @GHFan10130 explained Danny and Charlotte’s grandfathers were brothers. Now they are kissing cousins.”
Denee chimed in, “They are blood relatives. This is incest. Alexis and Valentin are both Cassadines, these are their offspring. Danny & Charlotte are kissing cousins.” Jess said, “I liked the kiss that wasn’t between cousins better.”
Some fans tried to lighten the mood. One wrote, “Looks like GH is going full Game of Thrones with some Targaryen-ish stuff and keeping it all the Cassadine family way.”
Reagan kept it simple, “I love it.” Samantha noted, “If Charlotte wasn’t a Cassadine, it would have been a great first kiss for Danny.”
Chandra summed it up, “Danny and Charlotte kiss. Um…y’all, this is weird, right?” Another fan pointed out, “Some of you were out here calling people names for rightfully pointing out the writing for Danny and Charlotte was giving romantic and not family, and now look.”
And one fan added, “Ok, so Sasha and Cody couldn’t be together because they’re cousins…yet Danny and Charlotte, who are cousins, can kiss? Not to mention, that’s Jake’s brother!”
