the transformation process: General Hospital Scribes Preview Explosive Storylines For 2026

General Hospital Co-Head Writers Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte sat down with TV Insider to tease the soapy drama coming to Port Charles in 2026.

What drove their storytelling for next year? The scribes explained:

So what exactly is going down with your fave characters? Here’s the skinny that the writers gave to the site, noting the theme is “A Perfect Storm” (since conflict, relationships, and drama are colliding)!

We’ll get to the bottom of the meaning of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey)‘s resurrections, as well as whether Nathan is still in love with comatose wife Maxie (Kirsten Storms). The writers previewed that the cop will end up in a clinch with Lulu (Alexa Havins Bruening). The show will explore if Britt can open up to rescuer Jason (Steve Burton) at long last. The walls Britt has built up may crumble when she and Jason are stranded together during a blizzard.

Over at Wyndemere, the deliciously dastardly Sidwell (Carlo Rota) will continue to pull Laura’s (Genie Francis) strings and strive to finish evil Faison’s (Anders Hove) last mission. Regarding the Port Charles mayor, Laura does her best to keep her husband Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) and grandson Ace (Kieran Barry and Karis Barry) out of Sidwell’s clutches. Laura’s been working with Sonny (Maurice Benard), who tries to find Sidwell’s weak spots; these spots are Lucy (Lynn Herring) and Ava (Maura West). Ava and Sidwell get closer. Complicating this already difficult dynamic is the fact that Lucas (Van Hansis) just moved to Spoon Island with new beau (and Sidwell’s son), Marco (Adrian Anchondo); will the doctor discover that the lawyer is in league with his dad?

Also on Spoon Island (although unknown to most) is a captive Anna (Finola Hughes), who is going to keep trying to escape. Her granddaughter, Emma (Braedyn Bruner), tries to help find the super-spy, along with Mac (John J. York) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner), when there’s a sighting; the fallout will be difficult to process, and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) will be by her side. Meanwhile, Carly (Laura Wright) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) keep up the plan to bring down Brennan (Chris McKenna). Valentin may find that his beloved daughter Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) is his Achilles heel.

Portia’s (Brook Kerr) pregnancy secret, and the paternity pickle she’s in, are both out. We’ll see the fallout on the doc, her ex Curtis (Donnell Turner), new squeeze Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson), and Curtis’ on-again love Jordan (Tanisha Harper). In the courtroom, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) pursues her plan to exonerate Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) on the charge of shooting Drew (Cameron Mathison) in order to see her granddaughter Scout (Cosette Abinante). Willow’s mother, Nina (Cynthia Watros), continues to wage war against her son-in-law.

Meanwhile, Willow’s ex-husband Chase (Josh Swickard) may put everything, including his marriage to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), on the line to save the nurse. The scribes said that Drew’s shooter will be unveiled, and the decision made in Willow’s trial will affect the whole canvas; the determining evidence will be revealed by Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup).

Plus, Willow’s other ex-husband, Michael (Rory Gibson), has found unexpected joy in spending time with Jacinda (Paige Herschell), but when the sex worker has to testify at the trial, her shared alibi with Michael may hamstring them both. Turner (Nazneen Contractor) and Sonny continue to one-up each other in and out of the courtroom.

Back to the Quartermaine clan: newly-crowned matriarch Tracy (Jane Elliot) continues her war against her rogue nephew Drew, trying to get back some family treasures the Congressman has taken. But when she comes across a squatter at Drew’s house, she may find her expectations turned upside down. Her granddaughter, BLQ, struggles to be happy with Chase, who’s also butting heads with BLQ’s son’s father (and Chase’s current boss), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). The truth comes out about Drew abandoning BLQ’s dad, Ned (Wally Kurth), during his heart attack, and the Quartermaine ladies, including Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), are out for blood.

Cody (Josh Kelly) bonds at last with legal eagle Molly (Kristen Vaganos), but their romance may be short-lived as her creative pursuits take over. Her half-sister Kristina (Kate Mansi) makes a new pal and supports her family. Their nephew Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) stands by Charlotte’s side when she’s betrayed, while there’s trouble on the horizon for Rocco (Finn Carr) that will result in someone leaving town.
